Hey everyone! I'm new here and I've always had plants at home, attributing my success to luck, a green thumb, or maybe just good vibes. Life has kept me busy, so I've been using Miracle-Gro soil and fertilizer along with aquarium water. However, now that I'm slowing down a bit, I really want to dive deeper into plant care. I've tried some plant identification websites, but they haven't been helpful—I've misidentified one of my plants multiple times. Plus, it seems like every site says plants need bright indirect light and to water them when the top two inches of soil are dry. I'm planning to buy specific ingredients to make tailored soil mixes for my plants and want to know if different brands really matter or if it's all the same stuff. In my small town, I can only shop online, so any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I’d recommend checking out Molly's Aroid Mix on Amazon — it's great for most tropical plants. Personally, I don’t wait for the top two inches to dry before watering; I check the weight of the pot instead. Just a heads up, don’t use it for succulents, though; they thrive in gritty, sandy mixes with less organic matter.
Thanks for the advice! I’ll trust your recommendation and order some now.

So you’re saying that all those ingredients I found, like bark and grit, are too much? Just confirming before I go buying!.
