I'm curious about the best way to start gardening. Did you initially grow in framed raised beds with store-bought soil before transitioning to planting directly in the ground? What are the pros and cons of each method?

I went for a sunny spot in my yard and just started planting straight into the ground with the existing soil. It might not be perfect, but I’m having success with cherry tomatoes, strawberries, and zucchini!
I actually do a mix of both methods! I heavily amend the soil since I've got clay soil here in lower, slower Delaware. It helps a lot!
What do you use to amend the soil?

Nice! Have you thought about using packaged chicken manure to give your soil a boost?
