Is It Dangerous If My HVAC Installer Cut into My Roof Truss?

I recently discovered that my HVAC installer made a cut into one of my roof trusses without my permission. I'm concerned about the implications of this and whether it's something I should be worried about for the structural integrity of my home. Here's a link to a photo showing what was done: [https://imgur.com/a/bd0Zhak](https://imgur.com/a/bd0Zhak)

Yes, this is definitely something to be concerned about. Cutting into roof trusses can compromise the structural stability of your home. It's important to have someone with the right expertise fix that – ideally not the same HVAC installer. They should be held accountable for any repairs needed.

The integrity of that truss is compromised, and the HVAC installer should have known better. Also, keep in mind that the way the HVAC system is set up in the attic could be problematic. And just a heads up – there’s a code violation if the electrical panel isn't compliant with clearance regulations.

I’d suggest installing a steel mending brace across the cut to reinforce it. Moving forward, ensure that the HVAC guy takes responsibility for fixing it. Ideally, a professional contractor should handle the repairs instead of relying on that installer.
