Is it easy to paint my old doors white for a fresh look?

I'm having a baby this summer and want to spruce up the house since we'll be having more visitors than usual. I've got 5 or 6 old doors and their moldings that could use a facelift, but replacing them isn't in the budget right now. I'm wondering how straightforward it is to clean them up and paint everything white? I plan on replacing them all eventually when my budget allows, but for now, a quick paint job seems like a good idea.

For the trim, I highly recommend using Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane Paint. It might be on the pricier side, but it dries super smooth without brush marks and has a durable finish that holds up really well over time.

It's definitely easy to paint, but be prepared for some work. Start with a thorough cleaning using a degreaser since these doors see a lot of traffic. After that, do some light sanding and then hit it with a quality urethane trim paint. If you want to jazz them up a bit, you could add decorative frames at the top and bottom using some thin trim. It can be a bit of a project tackling 5-6 doors, but if you keep your painting tools covered and do a couple each weekend, it’ll be manageable.

Painting those doors is actually pretty straightforward! Just give them a light sanding to remove any existing finish, then you can go ahead and paint. A pro tip is to keep them hanging while you paint them so they don’t warp, which can happen if they’re laid flat.
