Is it Feasible to Add an Attached Garage or ADU to My Future Home?

I'm considering purchasing a house in one of the northeastern states and would love some feedback on whether it's practical to add an attached or detached garage or possibly an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) in the future. I've got some images of the property to share. What do you think?

Exactly! Where I live in the Northeast, there are strict rules about how many acres you need and how close you can get to your lot lines for a new garage or ADU. So, your first step should definitely be contacting your local zoning office to see what applies for your area.

Got it! Should I reach out to a city architect for more specifics on zoning laws, or is a private architect better for this kind of advice? Just trying to cover all my bases!

The feasibility really hinges on local zoning laws and building codes. You need to check what your municipality allows since they dictate things like how close you can build to property lines and how much road frontage or land you need for a second structure.
