I'm wondering if it's common for a hydronic baseboard heat source and cover to actually pass through a wall. I'm concerned about potential fire risks and whether this setup would fail an inspection. My assumption is that the contractor will claim this is the only size available at the store. Previously, the heat source and cover just ended, leaving only the pipe running through the wall. Yeah, it’s definitely unusual and not the prettiest installation I’ve seen. However, it shouldn't pose any fire risk. Honestly, it just seems like extra work for them to do all that cutting and mudding instead of simply trimming the cover.
No way! That looks pretty wild, but hey, if the right length for the baseboard heater isn't available locally, what are the options? It might be a challenge to find the exact size you need at Home Depot or anywhere else.
If you can’t find it, maybe consider looking online or checking with a specialized HVAC shop?
How do you actually cut the cover if you wanted to fix that?
