Hey everyone! We just had our backyard fence installed, and I noticed that the rails on the gate aren't made of pressure treated lumber. Is this common, or should I be contacting the contractor to have this fixed? Thanks for any insights!

It’s quite normal for gate wood to come from different sources. If the wood looks different, it might just be from a different pile or even a different type of wood. However, if it’s untreated regular framing lumber, that’s definitely something to bring up with your contractor.
If the rails are made from cedar, that’s actually a good choice over pressure treated wood! Cedar can hold up really well, so if that’s what you have, you might not need to worry. Just check what your fence is made of—many fences use pressure treated pine.
