Is It Normal for My Tomato Plants to Start Fruiting So Late?

Hey everyone! I'm wondering if it's typical for Roma tomato plants to only start producing fruit around September. I've noticed that mine just began to bear tomatoes about two weeks ago, and I'm unsure if that's normal or not. I live in zone 9B, so any insights would be appreciated!

Yeah, tomatoes can struggle with the heat. In your zone, it probably gets pretty hot in the summer, which can delay fruiting. You might want to think about starting your plants earlier next year to beat the heat!

That's interesting! I have summer temps in the 60s most of the time and only a few days around 70, so I guess that could be different for me.

It really depends on when you started your seeds. I usually see my tomatoes producing by July and August, but they sometimes slow down and then pick up again. If you’ve planted them later, it might just be a case of timing, so don't worry too much!
