Hey everyone, I'm a first-time homeowner tackling my first major remodel and honestly, I'm a bit concerned about the quality of work from my contractor. I'm noticing some minor damages like gouges and chips on the door frames, a few cracks in the drywall, and even a misaligned door. My big question is whether it's typical to have these kinds of issues pop up during a remodel. The contractor mentioned that these problems would be fixed at the end, but I'm not sure how good touch-ups will really look. Should I be worried about the level of care being taken, especially when it comes to using damaged materials? I'd love some feedback on this! Thanks!

It’s definitely not uncommon to see some minor damage after a remodel, especially if it’s a full gut like yours. Contractors can be a bit careless at times, but they should ideally handle touch-ups well. As for the damage, it’s worth speaking up if you’re not satisfied. Make sure they prioritize fixing those issues before you sign off on the project.
I agree with the previous answer! Damage happens, but it shouldn't be excessive. It’s good that the contractor promised to address these issues at the end; just make sure to keep track of everything you find. And don't hesitate to ask for updates on how they plan to fix those gouges and chips. It’s your home, after all!
