Is It Okay to Unload Lumber in the Rain?

I just bought some pricey hardwood, and when I got home, it started pouring rain. I wasn't sure if I should unload the wood right away or wait for the rain to stop. I decided to wait, but would a little rain have been a problem? The wood wouldn't have been completely soaked, just a few raindrops here and there. Just curious about that!

You shouldn't have any issues! If the wood just got a few raindrops on it, it's really not a big deal. Just make sure to stand it on end or stack it properly to let it dry off a bit if it gets damp. It can handle a little moisture without major problems.

Honestly, it’s a tree – it can handle a little bit of rain! Just remember to let it dry naturally. If you're really anxious about it, you might want to check the moisture content, but overall, minor exposure to rain isn’t a big concern. Plus, your investment in kiln-dried wood means it can withstand some moisture.

As long as the wood doesn't sit in standing water, you're fine. A bit of rain is nothing to worry about. Just let gravity do its thing and stand the boards upright to reduce the amount of wet surface. They'll dry out naturally without any long-term impacts.
