Hey everyone! I'm curious if I can grow a bottle brush plant (Callistemon) in the ground here in the UK. Does anyone know which species might be suitable for our climate and what conditions they need?

Yeah, some species of bottle brush plants can actually survive in the UK! It really depends on where you live. If you’re in the south, you have a better chance. I came across an article that explains more about it too, so check that out for specifics!
I’ve seen bottle brush plants growing near the Dorset coast, and they looked awesome! The seed pods were something else—totally wild! So, they can grow in certain areas, just depends on your microclimate.
You can definitely grow Callistemon citrinus in London! Just make sure to give it the right care and conditions. Full sun is a must, and it helps to get one from a local garden center since they usually have varieties that are harder and suited for our climate.
Good tip! I’ll definitely check out my local garden center for options.

That sounds so cool! I love the unique look of those seed pods.
