Is It Possible to Vent Two Bathrooms with One Exhaust Fan?

I'm considering a setup for my bathrooms and have a question. My master bathroom has a separate toilet room, and currently, there's a bathroom fan in the main area. I'd like to install another fan in the small toilet room and connect it to the existing exhaust system for the main bathroom. I'm worried about the potential issues of tying the two vents together, but I've read about using backflow dampers to manage airflow. Just to clarify, I'd only use one fan at a time. Would this setup work?

If you're worried about making new roof holes, consider placing the fan inline instead of in the ceiling. You'd have both bathroom exhausts ducted to a Y connection before the fan. This setup could be quieter and still effectively ventilate both spaces.

That sounds like a smart way to go! Keeping it quieter is a big plus.

Using backflow dampers should work fine for your setup. Just keep in mind there might be some minor air cross flow, but it's usually not too noticeable, especially if you install the dampers properly.

Good point about the dampers! Getting them leveled sounds crucial to avoid future issues.

You could definitely use an inline fan right after the Y connector to pull air from both bathrooms at the same time. It could improve airflow without needing to drill any new holes.
