Is It Possible to Widen Existing Holes with a Dingo Auger?

I'm looking to widen some existing 12-inch holes to 18 inches, and I was wondering if using a dingo auger would work for this, especially since I know hole saws don't do well in wood. I'm dealing with clay soil here. Also, is there a way to keep the auger guided without having to refill the holes first?

Just a heads up, using a dingo auger might work for you! It should be able to drill where you aim it, even if the holes aren’t perfectly centered. Just keep an eye on how you position it to avoid wandering too much.

That makes sense! As long as the holes don’t need to be spot on, I think I might go for it. Renting sounds expensive, though!
