Is it realistic to gut and remodel a bathroom in 5 weekends and 10 evenings?

I've got a bit of a situation on my hands. There are mushrooms growing between the grout in my shower, so I need to do quite a bit. I'm looking to remove the shower, retile the floor, inspect and possibly repair the subfloor, and put in some water-resistant drywall, all while making the shower a bit larger. I've got 5 weekends and 10 week nights after 5 PM to handle this before the 26th. Do you think I can pull this off?

Most professionals usually allot around two weeks for a full gut and remodel of a small to mid-sized bathroom. So unless you’ve got a ton of experience and can really burn through those hours on weekends, your timeline might be a bit unrealistic. If you’re only focusing on the shower, you might squeeze it in, but it's still a bit optimistic.

I'm a bit concerned about scope creep here. Once you start demoing, you'll find things that you didn't expect - who knows what kinds of surprises the previous owners left behind? Plumbings and wires may need updating, or you might find wood rot. Also, planning how everything fits together can be surprisingly tough. I've learned that the hard way!

If you're planning to go with a shower pan and prefab surround, it should be a pretty smooth process. But if you're thinking about tiling everything yourself and you're not super experienced, it might get tricky!

Yeah, I've heard tiling can turn into a nightmare. It looks fantastic, no doubt, but I keep hearing about leaks down the line.
