Is It Safe to Anchor a Heavy Bookshelf to Drywall with Regular Plugs?

Hey everyone! I recently anchored my tall, heavy Billy bookshelf to drywall using regular plugs instead of Molly anchors. I'm a bit concerned about whether this is safe enough, or if I should go back and use Molly anchors instead. What do you think?

For extra security, especially if you have kids, I recommend using toggle bolts or Molly bolts. When my kids were younger, I secured our bookshelves by fastening a sturdy piece of wood directly to the wall, hitting studs on either side. Then I painted it to match the wall or the shelf, which helps keep everything stable. It's a solid option!

Haha, who is Billy? But seriously, it’s great to name your bookshelf! Just make sure it’s safe, especially around kids. Better safe than sorry!

Exactly! Safety first, and a funny name for your bookshelf never hurts!

Molly anchors are definitely a better choice for heavy items like bookshelves. They provide more stability and can handle more weight compared to regular plugs. Just check the weight rating on the package to be sure you're covered!
