I'm in the process of encapsulating my crawlspace and planning to install a dehumidifier from the joists. I'm considering options for draining the dehumidifier and noticed there's a 4" pipe leading to the septic tank right under where I'll hang the dehumidifier. Can I connect the discharge line from the dehumidifier (using flexible PVC) to this pipe? If it's possible, I'd really appreciate a step-by-step on how to do it. I found a YouTube video showing someone drilling a hole into a PVC drain line to attach a barbed fitting for a similar setup. What do you think?

Definitely go with a condensate pump! It's the safest way to handle things. You don't want to take any chances with sewage leaking into your crawlspace. You’ve gotta keep it clean and safe down there!
Honestly, I'd advise against connecting to the septic line. If something goes wrong, it could really mess up your crawlspace. A better option would be to either gravity feed or use a sump pit if you have one, or just run a condensate pump straight outside. It's safer in the long run!
