Hey everyone! I'm planning to install alarm opening detectors on my sliding windows. I can easily adhere a flat magnet on the glass using double-sided tape, but I need to securely fix the detector itself with screws since it might fall off over time. I'm intending to test it with tape first, but for a long-term solution, I'm wondering if it's okay to drill into the aluminum frame for installing the detector. What screw lengths would be appropriate, and could drilling compromise anything like the glass or sealing? I'd really appreciate any advice! Check out my photos here: https://imgur.com/a/GkDYkaS. Thanks a lot!

Honestly, I’d stick with double-sided tape until it falls off. There’s no reason to make permanent holes if you can avoid it, and industrial tape is pretty reliable. I use some heavy-duty 3M foam tape on my truck’s bedliner, and it’s held up for over three years through some pretty harsh weather!

Gorilla also makes a really strong double-sided tape that can last a long time, just in case you want alternatives!
