I'm planning to install a couple of solar panels on my shed and connect them to a battery for backup power. My shed is located in New Jersey, and I'm worried about the high temperatures inside. In July, I've recorded temperatures reaching up to 140°F. Is that too hot for a battery? What can I do to manage the heat?

Seriously, just open a window! It helps a lot. That said, I do have two open and it still gets pretty hot, so maybe consider fans if it’s still a concern.
I live in Georgia and have a similar setup in my shed. To keep the temperature down, I installed an exhaust fan and a window fan. The max temp I’ve seen is around 105°F, and it hasn't harmed my equipment at all. You might want to consider something similar to help with ventilation.
They actually make solar ventilation fans designed for situations like yours. It's really important to manage the heat before putting batteries in there. You need to get those temperatures under control!
