I'm getting a new gas dryer on Friday, but the old one is being removed tonight. The gas line has a shut off valve right before it, and I'm wondering if it's okay to leave it uncapped with the valve shut off for two days, or if I should run out and grab a flare cap to put on it temporarily. What do you all think? Thanks!

If your shut-off valve is working properly, you should be fine leaving it uncapped for a couple of days. For extra peace of mind, you could always spray it down with a bit of soapy water to check for leaks. Just a little precaution never hurts!
I recommend capping it if you can. It's not that expensive, and it’s always better to be safe than sorry. While the shut-off should work, you never know when you might have a valve that doesn’t fully close.
In most cases, it should be okay uncapped for a day or two, but if you have pets or kids around, I'd definitely cap it just to avoid any accidents. Better safe than sorry! Plus, a cap is a cheap way to ensure everything stays safe.
