Is it safe to mount a TV if the stud is only detected in deep scan mode?

I'm trying to mount a 55-inch TV, but my stud finder shows no stud in the normal mode. However, when I switch to deep scan mode, it does find a stud. Should I still use a wall anchor to be safe, just in case the stud is further back than normal?

Try using a magnet to locate the nails in the wall. If you find a vertical row of nails, that's a good sign you've found a real stud!

Absolutely, this method is great! Here's a link to a good magnetic finder you can use. Just avoid drilling random holes—it'll save you a lot of hassle!

I’d recommend using a drill with a small bit to find the stud for sure. If you drill a couple of small holes, no one will see them once the TV is up!
