I'm looking for options to install an electrical outlet in the center of my room without leaving a noticeable ridge from the wire. I can't just put a rug over it, so is there a safe way to push electrical wire under carpet? I'm not sure if this goes against safety codes, but I want to know what my options are.

If you really need the outlet in the center, you could try mounting it from the ceiling and creating a column for it to lower the outlet down. Just a thought!
Running an electrical wire under the carpet isn't safe because it can cause the insulation to wear down over time. That wear can lead to short circuits and even house fires, especially with foot traffic. It's best to avoid that route entirely unless you want to risk damaging your home and invalidating your insurance. So, if you're thinking about it, I’d recommend looking for safer alternatives instead.
You might want to consider some other options like running the wire through the crawlspace or basement, or even going up to the ceiling if you're on the second floor. If it’s a slab, you could cut into the concrete to run the wire safely. Floor-mounted raceways are another solution to consider, so you don’t have to deal with the risks of hiding it under the carpet.
