I've had a broken dishwasher for a while now, and we finally saved enough to buy a new one. However, the installers told me that the electrical setup in our older townhouse here in BC, Canada isn't up to code and that the dishwasher needs its own dedicated circuit. I get that, and we plan to upgrade it eventually. In the meantime, I'm wondering how risky it is to keep running the fridge and the new dishwasher on the same outlet until we can sort this out?

It's not the best idea, but it shouldn’t be a huge disaster unless your wiring has other issues. Just keep an eye on it!
Yeah, it's definitely better to have big appliances on separate circuits, but if you have to use them together for a bit, just make sure not to overload. Pay attention to if the breaker trips when the dishwasher and fridge run at the same time.
It really depends on your circuit setup and the size of the wires. If you had issues breaking circuits before with the old dishwasher, that could hint at bigger problems. In general, avoid running both at the same time if you can.

Well, we didn’t use the dishwasher much before it broke, but I do recall it tripping the circuit back then. Should've paid more attention, but I was just excited to have a working one!
