I have a snow prickly pear that's been growing quite a bit on my shelf alongside some other small succulents. It started out at about four inches tall, but now it's grown over six inches, and I'm really worried about it getting too tall for the space I have. I'm curious if it's okay to trim off some of the top to bring it back to its original size. Are there any specific tips I should know to avoid harming the plant?

I agree with PlantLover99! Trimming is a good option. They can get leggy and not very healthy looking if they stretch too much for light. A photo of your plant would help a lot for better advice, but trimming back those extra pads should be fine. And remember, prickly pears can be quite resilient, so don’t stress too much! Just take care of it after the cut.
It sounds like your snow prickly pear might be growing tall due to not getting enough light, which is common for them when kept indoors. Yes, you can definitely trim off the excess pads to manage its height. Just use clean, sharp scissors to avoid any potential infection. You can either discard the cuttings or try to root them for new plants! Just make sure to let the cut end dry out a bit before sticking it in soil if you decide to propagate.
