Is It Safe to Use a Smaller Blade on My Jobsite Table Saw?

Hey everyone! I've got a Dewalt 8 1/4" jobsite table saw, and I'm thinking about using a 7 1/4" blade on it. The Diablo 8 1/4" blades cost around 60 CAD, while the 7 1/4" versions are only 20 CAD. I understand that using the smaller blade would limit my cutting depth, but I'm wondering if it's safe to use and if it might even perform better for my usual projects. Has anyone used a smaller blade on their table saw? Appreciate any tips!

Using a smaller blade is totally doable! I sometimes put a smaller blade on my 10" table saw for cutting recycled lumber. If you accidentally hit a hidden nail, losing a cheap blade is way better than ruining an expensive one. Just keep in mind that you won't be able to cut really thick wood, but for regular stock, it should work fine.
