Is it safe to use a snake on my bathtub drain after using Drano?

Hey everyone! My bathtub drain is clogged and I'm considering using a snake to clear it out. The last time I used Drano was over a year ago, and I didn't realize that might complicate things. Should I be worried about using a snake or a plunger now? I plan to wear latex gloves for safety—this will be my first time tackling this! Any advice would be super helpful. Thanks!

No worries at all! Drano doesn’t linger like that. Go ahead and use the snake; it worked for me without any issues. Just be cautious and check to ensure your pipes are in good shape—better safe than sorry!

I agree! You don’t need to worry about the Drano from so long ago. Just make sure not to pull back any gross stuff when you’re using the snake! If you want to be extra safe, you might consider wearing goggles too, just in case.

You should be good to go! Since it’s been over a year, any Drano residue should be long gone. Just make sure to check the condition of your pipes before snaking. It’s a good idea to wear gloves, but you’re not in any danger from the chemicals you used a while back. Snake away and good luck!
