Is it safe to use contact cleaner on my phone’s charging port?

Hey everyone! I've been having some trouble charging my phone lately, and I've noticed that the charging port collects a bit of dust from my work environment. Previously, I've cleaned it with a toothpick, but I recently got a sample of some contact cleaner spray from WD-40. I'm tempted to try it out, but I'm worried about damaging my phone. Does anyone have any advice or alternative suggestions? Thanks a lot!

I would suggest using a sewing needle instead. Lint can build up in the charging port from the charger itself, and the cleaner might just make everything wet and sticky. A needle helps to scrape out the debris effectively. Just be gentle!

That's a solid point! I once used a sim tray removal tool, and it worked like a charm, too. Toothpicks can be a bit flimsy for this kind of gunk.

You might want to stick with rubbing alcohol on a paper towel for cleaning the port. It does a great job without leaving any residue like some contact cleaners do.
