I'm curious about whether the Home Depot protection plan is worth it, especially when it comes to power tools. Do most people usually go for this plan, or do they skip it?

In a nutshell, I'd say skip the protection plan. Most tools come with a solid manufacturer's warranty which usually covers you just fine. The protection plans at Home Depot often just aren't worth the extra cash, and they tend to have a ton of fine print that makes claiming benefits pretty tricky.
Honestly, I never buy any kind of warranty. The built-in warranties are way better in terms of coverage and length. If you think about it, they only push those protection plans to make a profit. You'll probably end up paying more than you would if you just invested that money elsewhere. Just keep that money aside for any potential repairs instead!
