I recently purchased a home that was built in 1954, and it has three sets of single-pane windows that are the originals. They seem to be working fine during the summer, but I'm wondering if it would be worth it to invest in replacements. What do you think?

I suggest getting a few estimates from different contractors. It'll give you a better idea of what your options are. If you're feeling adventurous, you might want to look into DIY videos for window replacements—could save you some cash!
Replacing them can be a good idea, but think about whether you want new framing or just replacements. New framing might require some extra work on your home's exterior but can look much nicer. I went for new construction once and am really happy with how they turned out!
To be honest, replacing windows can be quite expensive. Sure, they might help reduce your heating and cooling bills in the long run, but you probably won't recoup the costs fully before you need to replace them again in 15-20 years. Just something to keep in mind!
Definitely consider replacing them! Just be cautious about who you hire; some companies can really rack up the costs. It’s easy to end up paying way more than expected if you’re not careful.
