I had the Nest before and it was nothing but trouble, too. I switched to Ecobee based on some recommendations, and so far, I've had a smoother experience. I do miss the Nest's user interface a little, but the Ecobee has been reliable. If the issues keep happening with your Nest, I'd say it's definitely worth considering a replacement.
