Is It Too Cold to Plant My Veggies?

I want to get my tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and squash into the garden, but the forecast is showing highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s. Since it's still a bit chilly, I'm wondering if I should wait a bit longer to plant these warm-weather veggies. My plants are getting cramped in their pots, so I really need to find a good solution!

You can go ahead and plant them! They'll probably just chill out a bit until it warms up a little and they really start to grow.

Yeah, they're likely to just hang tight until it gets warmer. Maybe consider using a row cover to keep them a bit warmer at night?

Are they going to get a good amount of sunlight? If they're getting at least 8 hours a day, you should be fine. Just make sure to cover them with something like old sheets or pillowcases at night, and then take the covers off when the sun comes out in the morning. Also, it's essential that you've been hardening them off by transitioning them outside gradually. It's great to hear that you have! Just be cautious with the chilly weather.

Thanks! I've been hardening them off for a few years now, but this is the first chilly May I can recall. They do get full sun, but it's been pretty cloudy lately.
