Is It Too Late to Plant a Holly Tree?

Asked By NatureLover87 On

I'm looking to attract wildlife to my garden and cover up an unused patch of land, so I decided to plant a holly tree. However, I just found out that I should have planted it last month according to some gardening advice I found. Can I still plant it now, or will that cause issues like slower growth or problems with the roots?

It'll be just fine! Plant it, give it some good nutrients, and watch it thrive!

Not a hard and fast rule at all! You won't ruin your tree if you plant it now. Just remember, these things can grow quite big if you don't prune them—trust me, I learned the hard way!

Oh, I totally get you! I have some that have self-seeded, and they're massive now. I had to do some serious pruning! Just be sure to check for smaller varieties if you want something more manageable.

They’re just guidelines! Go ahead and plant it, keep it fed, and enjoy watching it grow. You won’t regret it!

You can totally plant a holly tree now! The guidelines about when to plant are just that—guidelines. As long as it's a containerized plant, just keep it well-watered and try to give it some shade during this hot spell. It should do just fine!
