Unfortunately, my heat mat turned off, and a lot of my tomato seedlings have perished. I'm wondering if it's too late to restart the growing process. I'm located in zone 7A, where the last frost date usually falls between April 15 and April 30. If it's too late to start from seeds, could anyone suggest the best online sources for purchasing interesting tomato plant varieties? I'm looking for options beyond what my local nursery or Home Depot offers because they tend to have the same selections.

Not at all! I actually just started my tomatoes last weekend. You definitely don’t need to plant immediately after the last frost date. A lot of people have told me they often achieve better results by waiting a few weeks after the last frost to plant. It gives the soil a chance to warm up, which really helps the seedlings thrive!

Good point! Warmer soil means the roots can work more efficiently without struggling with temperature changes. I'm not a pro either, but that seems like a solid reason!
