Is it Unreasonable to Request a Redo on Our Bathroom Tiling?

We recently hired a well-known contractor to remodel our master bathroom, which included rebuilding the shower and tiling. However, we're quite unhappy with how it turned out. Here are some issues we noticed:

- The shower isn't at a perfect 90-degree angle; some corners just don't match up.
- The grout at the bottom inconsistently changes thickness, with thinner grout in some places and thicker in others. The contractor claims this is due to uneven walls.
- The trim installation seems quite messy.
- The slope towards the drain is odd—it comes in from four sides, and we're wondering if it could have been done better with a longer drain along the width.

We're contemplating asking the contractor to fix these mistakes or even redo some parts of the job. This is our second time hiring them; their previous tile work in other areas was fantastic, which is why we trusted them again. Am I being unreasonable in wanting them to correct these problems?

Honestly, if they also framed the shower, I’d definitely ask for a redo. They should have pointed out these issues to you before proceeding if framing was part of their job. Don't hesitate to bring it up! That’s what you’re paying for.

Thanks for the input! They did handle the framing as well, so I think I have a stronger case here.

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t be satisfied with that job either! If I can’t accept something I did myself, why should I settle for less from a professional? You’re right to want it fixed.

That tiling is pretty rough. I’d absolutely bring it up with them to find a solution and get it fixed properly. You deserve it!

This is really unacceptable. They clearly messed up and it needs to be torn out and redone. You shouldn’t have to live with that!
