I'm in the market for a single Andersen 400 patio door and my local retail chain quoted me $3,000. This seems high, so I'm considering shopping around, but I'm not sure if it's worth the effort. I want to avoid spending too much time getting quotes if the price difference is minimal, like around 10%. Do you think Andersen distributor prices tend to vary much for a single door purchase based on the distributor, or should I expect it to be more like +/- 5%? Any insights would be appreciated!

I agree with shopping around! I got a Lowe's pro account for some other purchases, and while I was looking at jet tubs that were listed around $2,300, I had my Lowe's guy check for me and got it for under $1,700. It's definitely worth checking different distributors!
From my experience, prices for a single door don’t fluctuate too much. Most of the variability comes into play when you’re buying multiple doors or entire packages for a house. Different vendors might offer slightly different prices, but I’d say it’s more about 5% range rather than huge discrepancies.
Honestly, shopping around is totally worth it! I went through a local lumber yard a few months back and ended up paying around $1,700 for a door that included a screen and all necessary hardware. It's a good idea to see what other places have to offer, especially since the difference can be significant.
I was in a similar boat! I was quoted about $2,700 for an Andersen 200 patio slider at Home Depot. I filled out a form for the Andersen distributor but I'm thinking of following up to see if I can get a better deal. It seems like the prices can vary somewhat, but it really depends on the distributor and any ongoing promotions or sales.
