Hey everyone! We just moved into this charming old farmhouse from the 1890s in Pennsylvania, and it's currently heated by oil radiators. In our previous home, we had hot air heating, so we're somewhat familiar with oil heat, but honestly, I'm not a fan of it. The last oil fill-up was the priciest I've ever experienced! I recently discovered that there's a gas main right outside our house, and Peco will connect us for free if we convert within a year. I'm considering making the switch but would love to hear people's thoughts on the pros and cons. The house is roughly 2,600 square feet and probably poorly insulated since it has mainly plaster walls, with a mix of 25 new windows and 15 old ones. Plus, the boiler seems really old and might need replacing anyway. What do you all think?

Definitely go for it! Switching will likely increase your property's value and you'll save a ton of money in the long run. No brainer!
I switched from propane to natural gas and it's been fantastic. The savings on my bills are substantial!
After I switched to gas, I felt a lot less stressed about heating costs. With oil, every time there was bad news, I worried about prices. Maybe gas isn't always cheaper, but it's definitely less stressful!

I totally get that! The previous owners spent around $3000 a year on heating oil, which is just insane to me. We keep our place at 65, and even the second floor stays around 72 degrees!
