Hey everyone! I'm thinking about replacing my carpets with laminate flooring, and I'd really appreciate your thoughts. Is laminate a solid option? Also, I'm curious if it's okay to buy flooring materials from Home Depot or Lowe's. Can anyone suggest which type of laminate I should consider? Additionally, what's the typical installation cost around northeast PA? I want to make sure I cover everything when getting quotes since I'm a new homeowner and don't want to be taken advantage of. Thanks in advance for your help!

I recently swapped out my carpet for floating LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) over a concrete slab and I'm really pleased with it! I got mine from Lowe’s, specifically Smartcore, and did the installation myself. It cost me about $1200 for flooring, trim, and some tools, covering around 450 sqft. If you're considering DIY, I can say it's fairly easy, just a bit time-consuming. The first row is the trickiest, but once you get that in place, the rest goes in pretty smoothly. Just make sure you have a way to cut the bottom of your wall trim, as you might need to make some adjustments during installation.

That's great to hear! What are the major differences between LVP and laminate? Why did you choose LVP specifically?
