Is Mineral Oil and Beeswax a Good Finish for Coffee Tables?

I'm curious if anyone has tried using a mix of mineral oil and beeswax as a finish for a coffee table. I've been using this combination for my cutting boards and picture frames with great success, and I love how it looks and how easy it is to apply. However, as I'm a beginner woodworker, I'm concerned about its durability and how well it will hold up on a coffee table I'm building for a client.

You might want to think about using a hard oil instead. It generally offers better durability for furniture like coffee tables.

Not a great idea! Mineral oil doesn't really cure, it just evaporates, which means it won't give you the lasting finish you want for a high-use item like a coffee table.

Actually, it's not that it evaporates completely – it soaks into the wood and leaves the wax on top. If enough oil gets absorbed, the wax will feel dry. But I get your point about durability.
