So, a while back, I had two bales of hay. I used one, but the other got a yellowjacket nest built into it while it was sitting on the ground this past summer. I ended up spraying that bale pretty heavily with Raid and haven't touched it since. Now it's been 9 months and I'm wondering if the bale is safe to use in the garden after sitting out in the rain and snow, or should I just toss it?

It sounds like spraying the insecticide might not have been the best move. Yellowjacket nests are temporary and usually just last one season. The whole hive dies off, and the nest is made from wood pulp, so its contamination isn't really a big deal. If you’re wondering about gardening, I’d say it's probably okay to use the hay. Just don’t feed it to animals, though!
I get that! I was worried about the nest being so close to where we entertain outside. Thanks for the response!
