I'm having some issues with my attic ladder. It falls about a foot short of reaching the floor completely, and when it's closed, the drywall cover sticks out awkwardly. I've included a link to some pictures to help clarify the situation. Any advice on whether it's installed incorrectly or if the ladder might be the wrong size?

I checked out your pics, and it might also be an issue with the trim at the top of the ladder. If that's stopping it from fully extending, you could either trim it down a bit or just add some weight to help it extend better. If it remains short after that, it could mean you just need to get a new ladder that fits your ceiling height properly. They’re not super pricey and usually easy to install, so it won't break the bank!
Thanks for the advice! I’ll look for a sturdier ladder. My dad has some wood under it right now, but I want a more permanent solution.
It sounds like your ceiling might just be too high for the ladder you have. A quick fix is to place a block under the base to stabilize it for now. Just make sure it's safe!

Yeah, I agree! A replacement is definitely the way to go if it’s not reaching. No point in struggling with a short one when there are better options out there.
