Is My Cabinet Installation Up to Par?

I had my cabinet contractor finally show up today, but I'm not thrilled with the installation quality so far. Am I being too picky, or does this look bad? I've noticed several chips, the long drawers were supposed to measure 40" according to the drawings, but they're only 37" long in real life. Plus, the fridge opening is 1.5" wider than planned. For a price tag of $12,000, I was expecting much better. Also, the cabinet sections are at least 1/4 inch off level, which makes me worried about fitting countertops later.

It looks like they barely got started! I don’t think you're being picky—you're paying a lot for these cabinets, and they should meet a decent standard. I’d suggest bringing these issues up directly with your installer. Also, it might help to run a small molding around the edges to cover the chips; that could make it look more uniform. By the way, did they build the cabinets themselves? If so, I’d be concerned about the overall quality since there are some noticeable holes filled with putty. How do the doors look?

Haven't seen the doors yet, but yes, the installer is also the cabinet builder. That makes me even more worried about how they were made. The putty seems to cover nail holes—do you see that in other parts too?
