I'm currently building a shower, and I've noticed my contractor is just applying adhesive and tiling right over some pretty big gaps in the drywall. I'm really concerned about this. Is this a standard practice, or should I be worried?

Nope, that's not okay at all! Drywall shouldn’t be used in a shower, especially not with such big gaps. You're right to be concerned; this could turn into a huge problem with leaks and mold. It's better to fire this contractor and get someone who knows how to do it properly.
Oh man, this is definitely not a good sign. It sounds like the contractor isn't experienced with shower installations. Using drywall in a shower area is a big no-no, especially with those gaps! This setup can lead to water leaks and mold issues down the line. You should seriously consider stopping work and finding a more knowledgeable contractor before it gets worse.
Exactly! Drywall doesn't hold up in wet areas. If they keep going like this, you'll end up having to tear everything out to fix it.

Yeah, I’ve seen too many remodels go south because of mistakes like this. Best to fix it before it becomes a bigger mess!
