Is My Dryer Vent Setup Safe and Proper?

Asked By HandyNewb83 On

I just moved into a new house and noticed that there was no ducting for the dryer hose to connect to the dryer vent. I purchased a 4-inch aluminum pipe, clamped it, and taped it down securely. I'm feeling confident about the setup, but I'm a bit concerned about potential risks. Can anyone take a look at my setup and let me know if everything looks okay? Really appreciate any advice from fellow first-time homeowners!

I see what you've done, but I have to ask – why does that new aluminum pipe look a bit rough? Also, it looks like you're taping it to some hard foam insulation. Just to clarify, is there an actual vent pipe inside that insulation that your new pipe connects to? It’s crucial to ensure everything's lined up right for safety and efficiency!

You're probably noticing my not-so-great tape job! The pipe is the new one I just added, and I had to insert it into the vent. Here's a pic of what the setup looked like before I did anything: https://imgur.com/a/Od6l5qc.
