Is My Grit Progression Too Aggressive for Sanding?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to map out a sanding plan using my random orbital sander and ceramic sandpaper. I was thinking of going from 80 grit up to 150 and then to 240. Do you think those are too big of jumps, or is that generally acceptable?

A good rule of thumb is to limit your grit jumps to about 50%. So starting at 80, you’d want to go to 120, then 180, and finally 240. This helps you achieve smoother finishes without spending too much time in between grits.

I’ve heard that too, but it seems like the ceramic sandpaper can be aggressive. I recently read that if you are using a specific type (like the purple one), you might be able to jump more. Only question is, is that info reliable? I've found that it’s typically okay to skip the 120 to 150 jump for harder woods.
