Is My Landlord’s Fix for the Bathroom Floor Safe Enough?

I recently moved into an apartment and noticed some issues with the bathroom, like staining on the linoleum, uneven floors, and a little bit of a "give" in the ceiling beneath the bathroom, which I suspect is due to rotted wood. The landlord agreed to replace the floor to ensure it's safe, but when I got home, I found the floor wet even though we hadn't used the shower in over 24 hours. They're coming back tomorrow to lay new linoleum, but I'm worried about whether this fix is actually safe and if it could lead to problems like mold or further damage. I really need some advice on whether this seems like an acceptable repair. I have some images for reference if that helps.

The patch looks dry now, so adding the new flooring should hopefully fix the issue. But typically, they should install the linoleum before putting the toilet back. It’s a bit weird they did it this way, but if they’re coming back, maybe they just needed the toilet out temporarily so you could still use the bathroom in the meantime.

Yeah, that's what I figured! They definitely needed to do something since it's the only bathroom. Just hope it all gets sorted tomorrow.

It sounds like there's definitely a water leak issue, especially if the area by the shower looks rotted. The landlord needs to be informed about the water situation since that could lead to more damage and make things inconvenient for you later on. If they lifted the toilet and didn't seal it properly, it's possible water is seeping out when you flush, so you should definitely bring that up.

That makes sense! I'm pretty sure the wax ring isn’t the issue, but I have a feeling there was a leak before we moved in, and they just patched the floor without fixing everything. My worry is they didn't replace all the rotted wood, especially near the shower. Do you think that's a big deal?

Honestly, it looks like a half-hearted fix. The rotting floor and possibly mold are a serious concern. I wouldn’t feel safe walking on that, to be honest. If there’s mold or if the floor gives way, that could lead to bigger issues down the line. Definitely keep an eye on it!
