I recently planted some lemon balm, and it seems to be taking much longer to grow than any other herbs I've tried. I'm wondering if this is normal or if there might be a specific reason for its slow growth.

In my experience, lemon balm can really spread out quickly. This year, mine hasn't grown as fast as previous years, but when it does get going, it can take over! So don’t worry if it’s slow now.
It really depends on when you planted it. From what I've seen, year one can be slow, then it picks up in year two, and by year three, you'll have lemon balm everywhere! Just be patient with it for now.
Give it some time! Lemon balm is part of the mint family, and they can be slow starters. If you just planted it, you might not see much growth until next year. After it gets established, it should take off.
