I had a power outage in my area while my dryer was mid-cycle. It's been happening a lot lately. The next day, power was restored, and I tried to restart my Maytag Centennial electric dryer. It made a brief sound like it was about to start, but then nothing happened. Now, it doesn't make any sounds at all. I'm worried that the issue could be linked to the electrical outage since there was a loud transformer pop nearby. I've tried some troubleshooting steps: unplugging and resetting the dryer, resetting the 30 amp breaker, replacing the thermal fuse, and checking the door latch and all connections. Any advice would be really helpful!

First off, try plugging something else that you know works into that same outlet to see if it powers up. If it does, then your dryer might be the problem. If not, it could be an issue with the outlet or circuit. Given the age of your dryer, if there's significant damage from the transformer pop, it might be more cost-effective to just replace it instead of trying to repair it. I've had to buy new units after power surges myself!

Definitely check the outlet first! You might also want to consider getting a multimeter to test the voltage, especially if you suspect the power issues. It could save you a lot of hassle.
