Is My New Floor’s Slope Too Much?

I'm seeking some advice on whether my concerns are justified regarding the slope of my newly installed floors. I just had my kitchen renovated, which included replacing the subfloor based on my contractor's recommendations. Before the renovation, the floors weren't sloped at all. However, after the work was completed, I noticed there's now a slope of just over 1% across the entire room. Is it unreasonable for me to think that this isn't acceptable?

I agree that a visible slope can be pretty annoying, especially after a remodel. If the pitch is noticeable, you might have a case for it being fixed, especially since the subfloor was redone. Don’t hesitate to bring it up with your contractor.

Thanks for the insight! It helps to know I'm not alone in thinking this.

It sounds like you're right to be concerned! The NAHB guidelines state that more than 1/2 inch of slope over 20 feet is acceptable, so about 1 inch over 10 feet is considered excessive. You should definitely discuss this with your contractor to see what can be done about it.
