Is My Old 5Ah Battery Dead?

I have an older 5Ah battery from around 2018 or 2019. I recently tried using it in my 3/8 impact driver, but it didn't perform well at all – I didn't get anything done. The battery showed a full charge, but I was expecting the impact driver to be the problem since just last week it was submerged in oil. I let it sit to drain for a couple of days. I even ordered a replacement impact driver (the 923 model) that's supposed to arrive soon. After using up my other batteries, I tried using the same 5Ah battery again, but it still wouldn't rotate, despite the lights working. I'm confused about why the battery might not be functioning properly. Any ideas?

It sounds like your old battery might be losing its ability to deliver power, especially under load. Have you tried testing it with another tool? If it works fine with something lighter, it might just be a compatibility issue with your impact driver directly. Sometimes these batteries can be finicky!

If you've already confirmed that the battery works with a different tool, then there could be something going on with the impact driver itself. Have you considered the possibility that the driver might be damaged from the oil exposure?
