Hey everyone! I need some advice regarding my Milwaukee M18 Fuel compact router and a Ryobi 20-pack of bits I'm using. While I can achieve clean roundovers, I'm struggling when it comes to cutting channels, like grooves, dados, finger joints, and dovetails. I've tried taking very shallow passes, but the bits just seem to burn out or stall instead of making clean cuts. This issue occurs whether I'm routing by hand or using my router table. I'm wondering if the problem lies in the router being underpowered or if the Ryobi bits are simply low quality and not sharp enough. If anyone can provide recommendations for both a better router and router bits for making precise cuts, I'd greatly appreciate it!

You should really consider getting some higher quality bits. There's a reason a single Whiteside bit can cost as much as a whole pack of Ryobi bits. Brands like Diablo or Bosch, which you can usually find at places like Home Depot or Lowe's, are great alternatives too. Amana bits are also a solid option. Trust me, upgrading your bits could make a huge difference!

Thank you, I’ll definitely give that a try! I’m really tired of having to set up a dado stack just to make my channels!
