Is My Sliding Barn Door Hardware the Problem?

Hey everyone! I've got a sliding barn door in front of my master bathroom that the previous owners installed, and it's really bothering me. The door rocks back and forth and there's a noticeable gap between the door and the wall. Is this a common issue with barn doors, or could it be that low-quality hardware was used or it wasn't installed correctly? I'm thinking about whether I should re-mount it, take it down, or just deal with it. What do you think?

Honestly, barn doors can be a bit of a pain. They were a trend that doesn't really work well in many homes. If it's rocking and leaving gaps, it might be best to take it down and go with a more traditional door. That's what I’d do for sure!

I actually like barn doors! They can look really cool and are easy to install. But if yours is rocking, that’s not great. Can you share some pictures? I’d like to know if the rocking is happening at the bottom or on the track. Also, do you have a baseboard on the wall? It might be worth looking into a floor guide for better stability.

Yeah, barn doors usually aren't the best for indoor privacy. They tend to have gaps that let air flow through and can rattle, which is what you're experiencing. I recommend switching to wood bifold doors if you're concerned about space like I was. I recently checked out some fancy barn doors and they had loose fits too.
